On November 2, 2004, "We, The People" had a chance, a golden opportunity; an opportunity to stop the assault on clean air and water standards; an opportunity to reduce the dangerous levels of mercury now contaminating every fresh water body of water in the United States, and all of the fish in them; an opportunity to lower the national debt and put America back on solid economic footing; an opportunity to save the jobs of millions of American workers from being outsourced overseas; an opportunity to fight terrorism in an intelligent and effective manner; an opportunity to protect the world by securing the nuclear weapons still present in the former Soviet Union; an opportunity to stop corporate interests from controlling all aspects of American government and practically writing the policy and legislation that regulates their industries; an opportunity to correct the terrible injustice of November 7, 2000.
But, if the official vote counts were to be believed, and that in itself was far from a certainty, approximately 51% of voters chose to pass up that opportunity. They chose to hurt America instead of help it. They chose to endanger the future of my children, their own children and everyone else's children, grandchildren, and so on. They chose to ignore the record of unquestionable, nearly complete failure of most aspects of that period's "Presidential administration".
And look what happened.
In my view, America died on that day. Not because of descent into 4 (more) years of Hell that followed, but because that 51% of voters decided to choose party over principle. They decided to put a man in the Oval Office who had proven to be unqualified, incompetent and harmful to the country. They decided to draw a line in the sand that said they would rather watch the country and its people suffer because of a few key social issues.
In short, they declared Culture War.
And America suffered for the next four years as a result.
But then, in our darkest moment, came the dawn.
America redeemed itself. It chose hope. It chose principle. It chose "Right" (by choosing Left.)
And America was reborn.
Truth be told, that's an exaggeration. It was only a swing of a few percentage points that turned the election. And this further accentuates the point that the country now largely consists of two factions locked in mortal combat with a divide between them as wide as the Grand Canyon.
The misguided purveyors of that which is Wrong were wounded, but are once again on the attack. The direction towards "Good" and "Right" that America has painfully taken since January 2009 threatens to be reversed and our path returned to that of ultimate destruction.
The author of this site, like many others, has sat idly by for years and watched this transpire without doing anything to counteract it, to try to save America from those who would guide it to destruction.
No longer.
